Free city tour or private guide

Free city tour or private guide

Postby Leena » Tue Mar 01, 2016 10:36 am

I have a 6 hr layover in DOH - landing at 5.40 PM, departing at 1.25AM.

We'd like to tour the city, but not sure whether to take our chances on the free city tour by Qatar Air, get a guide, or just take a taxi.

How often are the late tours fully booked?

How big are the tours?

Are the guides interesting or better to get a private one?

Or, should we just take a taxi, drive around the city, go to the Islamic Museum, hang out at the Souk, and go back to the Premium Terminal?

The free city tour by Qatar Airways is for transit passengers with a transit time of 5-12 hours who arrive in Doha between 04:00-19:00. Since, you are reaching at 5.40, it might take an hour to finish immigration. So, you need to rush immediately to the City Tour desk.

The tour will take approximately three hours and visit the Museum of Islamic Art, Katara Cultural Centre, the Pearl-Qatar, and Souq Waqif.

Alternatively, if you are eligible for visa on arrival, you can take a cab ride along Corniche to Pearl Qatar via City Centre and Katara. You can end your journey at Souq Waqif, have dinner and take a cab back to the airport.

You don’t need a guide to visit these places. You can do it on your own.
